Winter Meeting

Call to Order: 7:00 P.M.

Welcome/Identification of Members present

Old Business:

• President's Season Report
• Program Status – clubs report on their current overall program status
• ACC overview – Roger Bay
• Policy and rules updates
• WEST Team and camp reports up to date at regional and NDS levels
• WR athlete tracking program
• Northern Division is pursuing a DH event for next season either at Soldier Mtn or at Big Sky.  We will try to return to a rotation with Inter Mountain Division
• Northern Division Post Graduates need to intend for any championship events by Feb 1.
• Officials’ Chair Report – Mike “Spud” Kelly
• Coaches & Officials Clinic Reports
• There are as many as 186 officials now licensed in the division.  Mike has updated the Northern Division list of officials, including those that tested Fall of 2007.  The USSA website is not up to date yet.
• Northern Division Manager – Sherri Hale - Financial Overview
• Where we stand currently
• We will be short on income this year due to back payment for Jenn’s salary.  Lower numbers will result in lower administration & wax fees, and there were overestimates on athlete’s and coach’s coats last year.
• Travel Issues:
• Season report to date – projects done so far (invoicing & reconciliation)
• Race attendance confirmation process/cancellation and travel policies – need to be concrete and located in the ND Handbook
• Rick Duncan  – review of educational opportunity for athletes. Program is being reviewed by the Office of Public Instruction.
• Goals and Tentative Schedule for Spring Meeting
• Coach’s coats, camps & officials clinics
• Race scheduling strategies

New Business:

• Divisional A – J3 Field Sizes
• Need strategies for retention of J3-J2 athletes. Please bring back ideas to the spring meeting.
• Spring Divisional Coaches/Athletes Camp at Beartooth Pass
• Hoping for a Winter officials clinic, coaches clinic/athlete mini-camp possible at Big Sky in December.
• Discussion of Independent athletes:  Can fill our Northern Division quota spots at any out of division races.
• Spring meeting tentative date:  June 14^th. Could coincide with a Silver Run camp.
